Nicolette de Witt is a distinguished attorney with over 24 years of post-admission experience. A proud Pretorian, she earned her BLC.LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 1998.

Her legal journey began in 1999 as a candidate attorney at one of Pretoria’s largest corporate law firms, where her exceptional skills and dedication led to her appointment as Director in 2007. Over two decades, Nicolette has mastered various legal disciplines, including Administrative Law, Insurance Law, Commercial Litigation, General Litigation, and Personal Injury Law. Her leadership roles as Secretary of the Board and Operations Director further highlight her managerial acumen and operational expertise. In April 2022, Nicolette co-founded DWM Attorneys Inc., where she currently serves as the sole owner and Director, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to legal excellence.

Nicolette’s contributions to the legal profession are both extensive and impactful. During her tenure on the EXCO of the Pretoria Attorneys Association (PAA) (High Court portfolio) from February 2023 to February 2025, she contributed, amongst others, the following:

  • Pioneering Communication: Established the PAA High Court WhatsApp group, now boasting over 1800 members, providing essential access to day rolls and relevant information for litigants.
  • Efficiency Advocacy: Represented the PAA at Efficiency Enhancement meetings, drafted quarterly reports, and provided consistent feedback to members on decisions and their implementations.

Nicolette’s dedication further extends to her role as a member of the LSSA’s ethics committee since 2024 and her current position as Co-secretary on the EXCO of the Gauteng Attorneys Association (GAA).

Nicolette has mentored numerous black candidate attorneys, many of whom have become successful legal practitioners and directors at major law firms. As the director responsible for her previous firm’s annual BBBEE rating, she conceptualised and implemented transformative initiatives that empowered black attorneys and black-owned businesses.

More recently, her mentorship extended to a black female Unisa student participating in the LSSA’s mentorship programme in 2023 and 2024, showcasing her commitment to nurturing future legal talent.

With her extensive training, skills, and experience, Nicolette is exceptionally qualified to meet the requirements outlined in Section 7(2)(e) of the Legal Practice Act. Her election to the Gauteng provincial council would be a significant asset to the legal community.
